Terms of Use

Last updated: June 2026

Doughwise is built by one baker, for bakers. These terms are written plainly. By using the site or creating an account you agree to them — but there is nothing here designed to catch you out.

What Doughwise is

Doughwise is a sourdough baking tool with two components. The free calculators on the landing page — bulk fermentation timing, starter schedules, and hydration math — require no account and store no data. The Baker dashboard — bake logs, starter tracking, recipes, and insights — requires an account and stores your baking data to provide the service.

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Doughwise is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from unauthorised access due to your failure to keep your credentials secure.

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You may not create accounts for others without their permission, or create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Your data

You own the data you enter into Doughwise — your bake logs, recipes, starter notes, and personal information. By using Doughwise, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, process, and use your data solely to provide the service and generate your personalised insights, as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may also use anonymised, aggregated data derived from user activity for service improvement and other purposes described in our Privacy Policy. This data cannot be used to identify you individually.

You can export or delete your data at any time by contacting hello@doughwise.app. Account deletion removes your personal data within 30 days.

Subscription tiers

Doughwise currently offers a free tier with access to all calculators and dashboard features. Paid tiers may be introduced in the future. If and when paid tiers launch, the features included in each tier will be clearly described before any payment is required. Free tier features will not be retroactively paywalled without at least 30 days' notice.

The calculators provide estimates, not guarantees

Sourdough fermentation is affected by dozens of variables — flour brand and protein content, water mineral composition, the microbial population of your starter, ambient humidity, altitude, and more. The calculators account for the most significant variables but cannot account for all of them.

All calculator outputs are estimates based on typical conditions and patterns. They are a starting point, not a prescription. You should always use your own judgement, observe your dough, and adjust based on what you see. Doughwise is not responsible for baking outcomes.

Food safety

Doughwise addresses timing, ratios, and fermentation patterns for bread baking. It does not provide food safety advice. You are responsible for ensuring that any food you prepare, serve, or share is safe to eat. If you are baking for people with dietary restrictions, allergies, or health conditions, consult appropriate professional guidance.

Acceptable use

You may use Doughwise for any lawful personal or commercial baking purpose. You may not:

  • Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute Doughwise code or content without permission.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, mine, or systematically access data from Doughwise in a way that burdens the service or circumvents access controls.
  • Attempt to access another user's data or account.
  • Use the service for any purpose that is unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent.
  • Introduce malware, viruses, or any code designed to interfere with the service.

Intellectual property

The Doughwise name, branding, interface design, written content, and code are the property of the operator. The underlying fermentation science — the Q10 rule, baker's percentage formulas, and related food science — is well-established public domain knowledge. Doughwise does not claim ownership of these principles.

The baker's process notes, suggested recipes, and editorial content on this site are original work and may not be reproduced without attribution.

Availability and modifications

Doughwise is provided on a best-efforts basis with no uptime guarantees. The service may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before discontinuing features that users rely on.

Dispute resolution

If you have a concern or dispute, we ask that you contact us first at hello@doughwise.app and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve it informally before pursuing any formal proceedings. We will make a good-faith effort to address any issues promptly.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or are used fraudulently. In such cases we will provide notice where reasonably practical.

Limitation of liability

Doughwise is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator of Doughwise is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this service, including but not limited to baking failures, wasted ingredients, data loss, or decisions made based on calculator outputs or insights.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence where such limitation would be unlawful.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. If changes are material, you will be notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Doughwise will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Jersey. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.
